Dr. Berg earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine after graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a minor in Business Administration from the University of Nevada. He completed both his transitional year internship and anesthesiology residency at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) before pursuing advanced fellowship training in Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota—one of the nation's premier cardiovascular programs.
