Biography

Dr. Axley holds an MD from Cornell University Medical College and an MS in Journalism from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. He served as Assistant Professor of Anesthesia and Perioperative Medicine at OHSU (specializing in regional and obstetric anesthesia) and as the Continuous Quality Improvement Director of the Preoperative Medicine Clinic. Prior to beginning his anesthesia residency, Mike completed an Internal Medicine residency at PSVMC. He worked as a medical editor for CBS HealthWatch and as an information specialist for Fox News Channel, and has written for various publications such as Medscape, The Oregonian, and Oregon Health Forum. Additionally, he has taught Medical Reporting at NYU Graduate School of Journalism. Dr. Axley has been with OAG for six years, he has served in several leadership roles including site chair, site quality director, and president.
