Tom Hoang, MD

Dr. Hoang completed both his Doctor of Medicine degree and his Anesthesiology Residency at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon. Prior to medical school, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Reed College.

Throughout his training, Dr. Hoang demonstrated a strong commitment to education, leadership, and resident development. He served on the OHSU Department of Anesthesia's Program Evaluation Committee, helping evaluate and enhance the residency curriculum, and previously led the Anesthesiology Medical Student Interest Group, where he expanded mentorship and educational opportunities for future anesthesiologists. He also served as a peer advisor through OHSU's OASIS Program and was an elected member of the School of Medicine Student Council.

In addition to his leadership roles, Dr. Hoang has contributed to the advancement of anesthesiology education through peer-reviewed publications focused on competency-based residency assessment and innovative e-learning resources for anesthesia training. His dedication to patient care and professionalism was recognized with the prestigious Alpha Kappa Kappa Award, presented to medical students who exemplify integrity, compassion, humility, and excellence in patient care.
